Toshiba Satellite C55-A5104 reviewThe Toshiba Satellite C55-A5104 is another launch from Toshiba in their Satellite series and this one comes out more as a budget model than as a high end device. The product seems to have a decent spec on paper and can turn out to be a useful one for someone looking for a budget laptop. Read the complete review to know more.

The Toshiba Satellite C55-A5104 carries the same design that is been time tested in their Satellite series. It does look slightly bulkier from the sides but not many will be complaining about that. The keys are well placed and shouldn’t hinder with the typing experience. The laptop weighs only around 5 pounds which makes it portable and it won’t be hard carrying around.

The display we have is a 15.6 inch TFT display that comes with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This isn’t full HD and to expect that quality would be unfair. But the picture clarity is good and will be suitable for watching movies and consuming other media. The widescreen display also enhances the movie watching experience. Since it is LED backlit you can expect the screen to use less power and this could have a positive effect on the battery life.

Processor and Memory

The Toshiba Satellite C55-A5104 is run by an Intel Celeron N2820 Processor that clocks at 2.39GHz. Th processor runs the operating system smoothly and there will not be any lag. Since this processor is no match to the current Haswell processors, you are not going to have the fastest computing experience. You can still run simple and mid range applications without any hiccups.

The processor is supported by a 4GB DDR3 RAM. This memory is pretty good for multi tasking simple applications. But if you need to work on some mid range applications at the same time then we would recommend you to upgrade the memory to 8GB or look for a device that matches your need more.

Hard drive and Graphics

The hard drive has a capacity of 500GB which is kind of ok for the light user. But mid range users will the space a little cramped up. This hard drive does serve well if you have very little data on hand right now.

The operating system that comes pre-installed in the 500GB hard drive is Windows 8 and it does take up some space. If you are fan, you’ll be happy with it else you can revert to Windows 7 if you really have to.

The graphics department is pretty ordinary with Intel HD graphics. This can run most of the games in the market now. But you can expect performance issues when running very high end games which make this laptop not so suitable for hardcore gamers.

The number of ports is limited in this one. There is one USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports. This is very less compared to other laptops in the market. But this one being a budget option does provide us with at least one USB 3.0 port which has to be appreciated. There is also a DVD drive in case you need to read or write a DVD.

Is it Worth the Money?

If you are someone looking for a budget laptop then you will find very good value in this device which carries a cheap price tag. The specifications are more than what they could offer for the price and you should be happy with what you are getting. This is only for day to day user while mid range and hardcore users have other better options.

  • Cheap laptop with decent specs
  • Good multi tasking capabilities

  • Only a few ports

This Toshiba Satellite C55-A5104 review should give you a good idea about the device. This is a budget device. Make no mistake, it offers more than what it could. If you are someone looking for a good budget laptop that can help you deal with your everyday tasks then this one will be a good pick.
