Toshiba C55-a5182 reviewThe new Toshiba C55-a5182 from the house of Toshiba is the laptop we’ll see today and there is a lot to cover in this review. The device comes out as a budget model and does give some interesting specs to think about. Is it truly a go to budget model for those who are looking for one? Read the review to know more.

Design

There aren’t any awesome design tweaks in the laptop. It takes the design from the company’s famous Satellite series and it is wise to use which succeeds. The keyboard is pretty neat and it wouldn’t hurt to use it even for an extended period. The touchpad is slightly on the left and will not an issue to use.

The display here is a 15.6 inch TruBrite widescreen display. The resolution of the screen isn’t full HD but is good enough for the naked eye to not notice any pixels. If you intend to enjoy a lot of media on this device, you will not be disappointed with the picture clarity. The screen is definitely one of the best selling points of the laptop.

Processing Power

The processor inside the Toshiba C55-a5182 is the Intel core i3-4000M processor. It is a good processor but it is not meant for running high end work like intensive audio and video editing. If you need to browse the web and do light work like office suites, there shouldn’t be any problem.

The memory that supports the processor here is a 6GB RAM which is a DDR3L. This is a good amount of memory and does a fabulous job when it comes to multi tasking. This is a good combination and would be very useful for light users who will face no lag whatsoever.

Hard Drive and Graphics

There is a 750GB hard drive you get in this device. This is a good amount of space when you consider from the light user’s point of view but the hardcore user will not be impressed with the space provided which is why this is a device for the light users. But if you are a light user with a lot of media data, we do recommend that you grab a cheap external storage device to take care of your storage needs.

The graphics department consists of an Intel card which can run some good games but is not the best choice for high end games like battlefield and such. If you are an avid gamer it is good to look for some serious gaming machines.

Connectivity and Battery

There are some decent options in the Toshiba C55-a5182 for connectivity. There are 3 USB 2.0 ports which enable you to transfer your data at a considerable speed. There is also a Super multi DVD drive which can be used for reading and writing DVDs. Wi-Fi connectivity is also a piece of cake here.

Battery pack consists of a 6 cell lithium ion battery. The battery life is ok at a little above 3.5 hours. So if you are going to use this outside for the whole day make sure you have a power outlet nearby. This is perfect for use in home anyway.

Is It Worth the Price?

The laptop comes at a little under $600 and you can get it at a 32% discount (at the time of writing) which leads to a little above $400. At this price, this laptop is a very good product. It doesn’t come with any bells and whistles but does what it says. Not many budget devices are this useful as this one and with a 1 year limited warranty there isn’t a lot of worry about.

Pros

  • 4th Generation Intel Chip
  • Good RAM
  • Very Affordable

Cons

  • Just an okay battery life
