HP Pavilion 17-e113dx 17.3 inch Laptop Review
The HP Pavilion series has seen so many successful laptops in the past. This new HP Pavilion 17-e113dx is very likely to join that list. The laptop is very competitively priced for the specifications and is a very good competitor for other laptops around the $500 price range. Read the complete review and spec analysis to know better.
The looks are visually pleasing. The silver on the tops goes well with the glossy black finish inside. Since this is a 17.3 inch laptop it is a little heavier when compared with other models. The keyboard and the mouse are of usual standards and are easy to use.

The laptop has a 17.3 inch LED backlit display. We would have loved to see this screen boast a full HD display but sadly the screen only has a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. This isn’t bad as it is still high definition and does a good job overall. The screen is well suited for watching movies and playing games.
Processor and Memory
The HP Pavilion 17-e113dx is run by an AMD Quad core A8 processor chip. This chip has a maximum clocking frequency of 1.9GHz. This, being a quad core processor, does a very good job in handling the operating system and other applications. The processor can satisfy the needs of a mid range user and working will be a breeze for a light user.
There is a 4GB stick that takes care of the memory department. This works well in tandem with the processor and gives the user a good performance. There will be no or negligible lag even when many applications are run at the same time. There is also provision to add another 4GB DDR3 stick if you have to.
Hard drive and Graphics
The hard drive has a capacity of 750GB. This is a pretty good amount of space for any kind of user. If at all you need more space you can always upgrade or get an external hard disk which happens to be a cheaper alternative. The hard drive comes pre-installed with Windows 8.1 which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
The AMD Radeon HD 7640G is the graphics card you can find under the hood. This is better than your basic graphics chip and does a neat job running games and other apps designed for image and video editing. Hard core gamers might also have something in this laptop thanks to the Radeon chip.
Battery life and Connectivity
The battery pack consists of a set of lithium ion cells that offers a decent battery life of 5 hours. This is really good considering the fact that the laptop has a 17.3 inch screen and it is very easy to lose a lot of juice over the screen.
There are a ton of connectivity options. There is a DVD drive that can be used for both reading and writing. There are also two USB 3.0 ports and 1 USB 2.0 port which can transfer data real quick. Built in high speed wireless LAN offers good connectivity without the hassle of wires.
Is It Worth the Money?
There is more than one way to look at this. If you have a budget around $500 and looking for a decent overall machine, then this one is one of the best in the market right now. But if you don’t have a budget and ready to give a lot more, this might be uninteresting.
HP Pavilion 17-e113dx is the bang for the buck!
- Good Processor
- Efficient graphics card
- Competitive pricing
- No SSD
You’ve reached the end of the HP Pavilion 17-e113dx review. The mid range and the light user will be the most benefited by this device. The fact that it doesn’t put a hole in your pocket only adds up as an advantage. Go for it if you are looking for a decent package in a reasonable price tag.
