HP 15-d090nr ReviewThe HP 15-d090nr comes out as a mid range option from HP but at a slightly higher price tag. The specifications that come with the laptop are good but will they be enough the user? Read this review on HP’s new mid range laptop to see how it fares.

Design

The laptop comes in standard HP design which is indeed good looking. The black color looks good and the glossy finish at the sides of the touch pad offers a premium finish to the product. The keys in the key pad are well spaced and it does lead to a good typing experience.

Display

The HP 15-d090nr has a 15.6 inch display. The display comes with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Though this isn’t full HD there is a good deal of clarity that surrounds the picture. The screen is well suited for watching movies and other media. If you are planning to watch a lot of movies in this one, you won’t be complaining much.

Processor and Memory

The HP 15-d090nr is powered by a third generation Intel i3 processor that clocks at a frequency of 2.4GHz. This is the base version of the third generation Intel chips but does runs the OS and other applications without much issues. The processor is suited well for day to day use rather than high end applications and simulations.

The 4GB DDR3 RAM forms the memory department and does a good job in helping the users to do multiple things at once a.k.a. multi tasking. If you are a light user you will be impressed by the speed and the performance of this processor memory combination. If you are mid range or a heavy user, there won’t be much to brag about.

Hard drive and Graphics

This laptop comes with a 500GB hard drive which is pretty normal these days. Considering the price at which the laptop comes, you ought to expect at least 750GB. So the hard drive is kind of a disappointment here.

The graphics is taken care of by the Intel HD graphics 4000. This is a default card and is known for its performance when used for playing small and mid range games. Though it runs most of the games it still isn’t that good to please a hardcore gamer.

Battery Life and Connectivity

The battery life is around four and a half hours, thanks to the 2 cell lithium ion battery pack. There are laptops that offer nearly 6 to 8 hours of battery life with a 15 inch screen but this one just manages 4.5 hours which might be enough for home use and also for use during commuting.

There are multiple connectivity options in the HP 15-d090nr. There are 3 USB ports of which one port is a USB 3.0 port. The USB 3.0 port is one thing that has to be appreciated as this could future proof your ports for some time. There is also a DVD drive that can help you with the DVDs you have.

Is it Worth the Money?

The HP 15-d090nr comes at a reasonable price for a mid range laptop. But there are features that might be a little under delivered for the money being paid, like the hard drive for instance. But other than that there isn’t a flaw that can hinder the performance of your device. The normal light and mid range users can work happily with this device.

Pros

  • Nice design
  • Reasonable price

Cons

  • Hard drive space could have been more
