Gateway LT41P07u reviewThe Gateway LT41P07u is a 10.1 inch touchscreen laptop from Gateway who has given so many quality budget laptops in the past. Coming from them, this one isn’t expensive either but that doesn’t equate to quality, right? Let’s take a deeper look into what this laptop is capable of. Continue reading the review.

Design

With a screen size of 10.1 inches we would prefer to call it a netbook rather than a laptop. The design is simple and neat. The keyboard is nice but the keys might be too spaced for some. Though it is a little bulkier at the sides it doesn’t weigh much. Being small, it offers great portability to the users; definitely a plus point for people who travel a lot.

Display

The display has quite a few advantages to its name. The 10.1 inch display is high definition meaning it has a resolution of 720p. This leads to a pretty good pixel density and usually ends up pleasing your eyes. Watching movies and other media consumption can be no problem. Another nice feature is that the screen is touch. This will come in very handy since Windows 8 can offer an enhanced user experience with a touchscreen.

Processor and Memory

The processor that runs the Gateway LT41P07u is an Intel Celeron N2805 processor. The maximum clocking frequency of this one is 1.46GHz. As you can see, this one is clearly not for the mid range and hardcore users. The processor can run the operating system without any hiccups and also most of the programs easily. This is perfect for web browsing, playing music and simple office work.

The memory is made of a 2GB DDR3 RAM. This is very less when compared to the market standard these days. There is still enough memory for the light users to perform their work. It will be wise to know that since the memory is too small for our liking running too many applications will slow down the machine by some extent.

Hard drive and Graphics

The hard drive is what separates this laptop from other 10.1 tablets in the market. The hard drive has a capacity of 500GB which is normal these days. It comes pre-installed with Windows 8 and you can even upgrade to Windows 8.1 if needed.

There is nothing special in terms of graphics here. We have an Intel HD graphics cards which will play most of the games but sure the specs meet the minimum recommendations for playing the games. It can be used for casual gaming but nothing serious.

The battery life is not bad at 5 hours. Since the screen is just 10.1 inches the battery will get more bargain. People who travel a lot will find good use.

There are a couple of USB 2.0 ports that help in quick transfer of data. The notebook also supports Bluetooth 4.0 so you connect with your Bluetooth devices instantly.

Is It Worth the Money?

Sadly we have to say no. You can get a good tablet for this money or even a laptop by adding a little extra to your budget. There is just not enough compelling features to help you make a positive buying decision.

Pros

  • Touchscreen display
  • Very Portable

Cons

  • Only 2GB RAM
  • Average processor
